In the span of the last four years, West Hollywood has navigated its most challenging periods, marked by deep divisions and the lingering aftermath of pandemic lockdowns. Our community saw the closure of cherished local businesses, schools, and places of worship, alongside a troubling erosion of public safety and an increase in visible distress on our streets. These developments have left many of us questioning the direction in which our town is headed.
Furthermore, the conduct of the current majority on the City Council has unfortunately mirrored more of a ‘mean girl’ political clique than a body dedicated to serving the public interest, exacerbating issues of corruption and political self-serving.
Against this backdrop, I bring to the table 15 years of unwavering commitment to bridging political divides, advocating for the rights of human trafficking survivors, pushing forward legislative reforms grounded in expert research, and cultivating grassroots movements aimed at restoring dignity and safety for all. It’s time for us to come together, setting aside political ideologies, to heal the divides and work collaboratively towards a West Hollywood that embodies safety, freedom, and a collective sense of pride.

I pledge to champion the vibrancy of West Hollywood's local businesses.

Streamline bureaucratic red tape and ensure local businesses stay open and thrive.

I will resist the dominance of corrupt unions, corporate developers, and large international investors like Blackrock, Vanguard and Statestreet, who threaten the unique character of our community by exploiting the aftermath of the pandemic.

Diversify our economy away from overly relying on hotel taxes, drug dispensaries and sex tourism, in favor of homegrown enterprises that serve local residents and families.

HOUSING
I commit to a future where affordable housing in West Hollywood is not just a token phrase but a reality.

Prioritize the development of truly affordable housing projects over luxury condominiums that offer minimal affordable units to our community.

Protect our existing low-income units and single-family homes from the clutches of corporate developers.

Restore integrity and independence to our political leadership, ensuring they serve the public's interests first.

CIVIL LIBERTIES
I vow to uphold the fundamental freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. Our civil liberties are non-negotiable and must be preserved for all citizens of West Hollywood.

Protect our right to bodily autonomy and voluntary informed consent by opposing all current and future lockdowns, vaccine mandates and passports.

Dismantle invasive surveillance systems while supporting robust and accountable on-the-ground policing.

Staunchly defend free speech, particularly for those with differing opinions.

Encourage not just diversity of color/sex/ability/class, but also diversity of opinion on our Boards and Commissions.
MEET WEST
"In the wake of challenging years marked by division and adversity in West Hollywood, I stand ready to unite our community with a commitment to freedom, dignity, and true progress."
A West Hollywood resident since 2015, West has been a dynamic presence in our community for nearly a decade, drawn by Weho's community ethos of respect and personal freedom. With a 15 year history as a community organizer, he has been at the forefront of anti-war and workers' rights movements. Concurrently, his professional journey in HIV clinical research has focused on advocating for sex workers and transgender populations, demonstrating a commitment to the safety and dignity of marginalized communities. He has also been a formidable advocate for human trafficking prevention and a published policy researcher, contributing to the passage of significant legislation like SB233, and supporting the survivors and victims of convicted serial predator Ed Buck.
In 2021, West founded the Free Weho Coalition, the nation's only LGBT medical freedom advocacy and support group. Today, he continues to influence as a news producer and on-air journalist at KPFK 90.7FM Rebel Alliance News, where he champions diverse perspectives and challenges mainstream censorship and political partisanship.
